Is it OK to use ChatGPT for a cover letter?
Yes, using ChatGPT for your cover letter is fine — as long as you do it right. Initially, it tends to sound robotic, which can raise red flags with hiring managers or AI detectors. You can polish it through multiple rounds, or simply use our enhancement service for instant quality improvements.
Can I check if my cover letter is AI-generated?
Yes, CoverSentry analyzes your cover letter and checks if it has traits typical of AI-generated content. It's free and fast.
How accurate is CoverSentry?
CoverSentry uses a fine-tuned BERT language model trained on a custom dataset of cover letters. While highly effective, no AI detection system is 100% accurate. AI-written letters vary in human-likeness, and sometimes it is impossible to tell. Our system catches the majority of machine-generated cover letters.
Is my data secure?
Analysis: Absolutely. We never store your cover letters. All processing happens on-the-fly on our secure servers, and your data is immediately discarded after analysis. We don't use cookies to track you, and we don't sell your data to third parties.
Generation: Our cover letter generation service uses the premium, paid version of third-party AI providers such as OpenAI. As a company based in the European Union, we operate under GDPR regulations, and our third-party providers have explicit data protection policies for their paid API customers, including commitments not to train their models on data submitted through these services. While your resume data is transmitted to these services during generation, their privacy policies ensure this information isn't retained or used to improve their AI models. For additional protection, we still strongly recommend removing all personal information (name, address, phone number, etc.) from your resume before submitting it for generation.
What languages does CoverSentry support?
CoverSentry currently checks cover letters in English only. Our proprietary AI detection model has been specifically trained on English-language content to provide the most accurate results. We're actively researching and developing support for additional languages and will announce new language capabilities as they become available.
How can I make my AI-generated letter more human-like?
Add personal touches, vary your sentence structures, include specific examples from your experience, and avoid overly formal or generic language. After editing, run it through CoverSentry again to check your results.
